Webinar: How to Avoid Ten Pitfalls of Ongoing Order Set Maintenance
Original air date: Thursday, April 24, 2014
Featuring Michael West, MD, HIMSS Physician Committee Member and Former Medical Director of IT for ThedaCare in Appleton, WI
Your organization went live with CPOE across departments, maybe through a "BIG BANG" approach, or via measured rollouts. Along the way, you built dozens or even hundreds of order sets ... so now what? How important is it to keep those order sets current with the latest evidence? What ramifications are there if your team doesn't actively maintain the order sets? In this webinar, Dr. Michael West, current member of the HIMSS Physician Committee and previous Medical Director of IT at ThedaCare, will identify ten pitfalls of ongoing order set maintenance, and the counter measures organizations can deploy to avoid falling into those traps.
Dr. Mike West has over 35 years of experience in practicing medicine and implementing complex IT systems. After practicing OB/GYN for 30 years with ThedaCare, Dr. West became the physician champion for their Bellin Health go-live of electronic medical records. After that, Dr. West became the Medical Director of IT and led ThedaCare's 12-month roll-out of Epic Inpatient CPOE for 5 hospitals and 500 providers. In 2013 Dr. West was appointed to the HIMSS Physician Committee, where he provides expertise and thought-leadership on macro-level healthcare IT issues. Dr. West also started his own independent consulting practice in December 2013.
